"Firstfruits'" is the name of the day when the priest annually offered to the Lord some of the earliest crops to be harvested, barley (Leviticus 23:15). Only the finest and first would do. Paul tells us that when Jesus rose from the dead on this day, He became our "Firstfruits" (1 Corinthians 15:20).
God gave us His finest: His first and only son. Now we can give back to Him the first and best of what we have. What part of your life is available to offer? He stands with loving arms outstretched, ready to embrace you.
TODAY'S PRAYER
Father, we thank you for this resurrection day, when your son rose from the grave. We offer you the firstfruits of our lives knowing you stand waiting. Thank you for this first day of Counting the Omer and for leading us through this season. We bless You as we walk through all 49 days by Your side. Amen.
