Five Ways to Pray for Israel

Shalom

Peace for Israel isn’t just a good idea, it’s God’s plan for Israel. Psalm 122 tells us to pray for peace of Jerusalem, the city over which Jesus wept and the “apple of God’s eye” (Luke 19:41; Zechariah 2:9). Pray for God to strengthen her borders and gates (Psalm 147).

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; may those who love you be secure. May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels. For the sake of my. brothers and friends, I will say, Peace be within you.” For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your prosperity.

Psalm 122:6-9

Inheritance

When you bless Israel, you are blessed. Israel’s role to be a blessing to all life on earth. Pray for protection and comfort of those within her borders. Pray that God’s love is known in the midst of pain. Pray that Israel would attain her full inheritance for the sake of the world.

Pray blessings for Israel.

“I will make you a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

Genesis 12:2-3

Maturity

Pray for Christians around the world to mature in unity in their love toward Israel. Pray for increase in humility, gentleness, patience, and bearing with one another in love. Pray that this fullness of Christ may build up the body to stand firmly with Israel.

Pray for unity in the Spirit.

“… live a life worthy of the calling you have received.  Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.  Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit … until we all … become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Epheisians 1- 4;12-13

Kingdom

Apart from God we can do nothing in prayer that will have eternal impact (John 15:5) but when we pray for God’s power to break in, He will intervene. We do not depend on our human strength or power or eloquent words but on His Spirit to accomplish His purposes for Israel (Zechariah 4:2).

Pray for God’s power.

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.

1 Corinthians 4:20

Authority

When you pray, you carry Kingdom authority. Pray from position of power, as a priest and a king. You are a child of the Most High, not fearful or timid. So, take back territory for the Kingdom. You are an heir of the Almighty entitled to the full inheritance of His Kingdom.

Pray as a child of God.

“The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.”

Romans 8:15-17
