At twilight today, Sunday, April 23rd, a new day begins, the 16th day of "counting the Omer". This marks two weeks and two days of counting.
Galilee was the center of much of Jesus' ministry and many of the Apostles were from that region. Galilee may have felt safer and more familiar to them than Jerusalem. Were they relieved when their risen Rabbi told them to go back home and spread the Good News after His resurrection (Matthew 28:10)?
Sometimes the Lord takes us through difficult events and then leads us back to the safe and familiar for renewal and restoration. From a place of refreshment, He calls us to contribute our lives in such a way that brings transformation to the earth as we share His story.
PRAYER:
Thank you, Lord, for your refreshment and renewal! On this sixteenth day (two weeks and two days) of counting the Omer, we bless You. Thank you for continuing to walk by our side through all seven weeks of the countdown to Pentecost! Amen.
