Omer - Day 45

At twilight today, Monday, May 22nd, a new day begins, the 45th day of "counting the Omer". Today marks six weeks and three days of counting.

By now, people would be arriving in Jerusalem from many distant lands. They came with foreign money that had to be exchanged in order to purchase offerings for God. Most foreign currency had faces of emperors engraved like graven images which were prohibited in the Ten Commandments. The money changers at the Temple often took advantage of travel weary pilgrims. This is something God abhors. Just as Jesus stood up for the weary pilgrims, He stands up for you today.

PRAYER: Thank You, Lord for being our protector! On the forty-fifth day of counting the Omer, we bless You. Thank you for continuing to walk by our side through all seven weeks of the countdown to Pentecost! Amen.
